Far Infrared Radiant (FIR) Heat
By participating in our infrared heated yoga, Pilates and barre classes, you experience the benefits of infrared radiant heaters in place of conventional hot air. Far Infrared Light is the frequency of invisible light generated naturally by the sun. Far infrared radiant (FIR) heat therapy takes advantage of the heat generated by waves of low energy at the far end of the infrared spectrum. This safe and natural type of heat can be used to treat multiple health problems from arthritis and muscle pain to shoulder and joint stiffness.
FIR heat therapy aids the body in a number of ways:
Increases blood circulation deep within our tissue
Improves collagen production in the skin
Helps remove toxins through perspiration
Assists in the reduction of tension and stress
FIR waves penetrate up to three inches deep, generating warmth that can provide immense relief to muscles and internal organs. FIR heaters cause blood vessels to expand, helping make connective tissue more flexible and permitting greater joint movement. The gentle heat produced by the FIR heaters in our PEACE Studio can thus help reduce chronic pain such as stiffness in the joints from arthritis.
Blood vessel expansion from FIR leads to improved circulation, allowing immune system cells and chemicals to converge on injured areas to facilitate healing. FIR can also reduce fine wrinkles and improve skin tone by increasing collagen production. Lastly, FIR heaters help increase PEACE studio participants’ levels of endorphins, thereby boosting the immune system and easing pain.
During the heating process, FIR heat therapy does not cause a significant rise in core body temperature or blood pressure, making this one of the safer types of heat for people with cardiovascular conditions.
